GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE A photo is like a memory, it IS a memory. Memories are soft, bridges are hard, made of steel, concrete, and asphalt. A lens is transparent, like a watercolor.

TOPANGA CANYON
A day ends with clouds. Like a watercolor, they are the signature of liquid and light and memory.

DODGER STADIUM, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
Summer is over. The season has ended, but in the mind, memories float like watercolors.

IMPERIAL PALACE, TOKYO, JAPAN
Memory is a colorful fish swimming through a watercolor.

ATACAMA DESERT, CHILE
A desert with no memory of rain for over a hundred years, yet it looks like a watercolor.

BIO: Lawrence Bridges is best known for work in the film and literary world. His poetry has appeared in The New Yorker, Poetry, and The Tampa Review. He has published three volumes of poetry: Horses on Drums, Flip Days, and Brownwood. As a filmmaker, he created a series of literary documentaries for the NEA’s “Big Read” initiative, which include profiles of Ray Bradbury, Amy Tan, Tobias Wolff, and Cynthia Ozick.
