Postcards: Oz 1991

postcards, travels

Dear Mom,

It’s called ‘Oz,” and it’s a strange place indeed! The bush expedition was horrendous. It’s winter in summer, I was bit by a rat, and there’s no tertiary treatment of the water. I truly am at the “bottom of the world,” and everything is upside down.

Margie B Klein: In 1989, I was lucky to travel to Europe for a natural resources seminar, comparing eastern and western block countries. It was a truly historic experience, occurring only months before the communist block fell. In addition, I travelled to Australia in 1991 to participate in an environmental expedition.
