Postcards: Seattle

Dear Mom,

They say The Moore Hotel is haunted, but I haven’t seen any paranormal activity yet. Do you think if I lie on this tiger-striped carpet long enough a phantom will appear? My guess is there’s something hiding in those red velvet curtains.

Spookily in Seattle,

Jessica Kautz has worked as a grade school teacher, a newspaper reporter, a grocery store clerk, and a barista, where she got to spend her days in over-caffeinated bliss. She feels all of the above, especially the tolerance for excessive coffee drinking, have prepared her for her current vocation of full-time mothering and writing.
