Postcards: Dakar, Senegal

Dear Aunt Lizzie:

I know you told me

not to go to Africa.

You’ve been there,

and “it’s so dirty!”

you said.

But I went, and

sank my feet into

Sub-Saharan sand,

placed my hands upon

Pink Lake salt.

I have bathed in this dirt

and will bring it home.
